Slow Reading Poetry Project 2025, Week Twenty-Six, “Poetry Magazine” October 2024

Fulfilling my obligations to my long-neglected TBR one book a time. Want to know why? I explain it in the first post here. Posting striking lines daily on BlueSky

This is a very short post. I considered not publishing anything this week but changed my mind because I think we don’t hear often enough that sometimes things are just okay. And that’s okay. Not everything has to be either great or terrible. One could even argue that most things fall somewhere between those two poles. This also gives me a chance to confirm something you’ve likely already figured out which is that I am not here to slam anything. Generally I can find something positive to say about just about everything. On those rare occasions where I do stumble across something that I really don’t like and can’t finish, I just set it aside and move on. Not everything is for everyone. And again, that’s okay.

The issue of Poetry Magazine I read this past week (October 2024) is one of those issues where, while I did enjoy some of the work in it (if you follow me over on BlueSky you already know that) overall: meh. So, let’s wait and see what the next week of slow reading has in store.
