Sue and I went for a nice long walk this evening, our first one of the spring. We are fortunate to live so close to one of the many ravines feeding into the North Saskatchewan River.

The trees are just starting to leaf out. There is a balanced contrast between their reaching structure and last years’s long brown grasses matted and sheltering the spring’s new growth, rustling in a gentle breeze. The bare-ish branches also let us see that lump perched in the middle of the shot, gorging on the tender new growth.
