I really must say that I love the current design approach the magazine is using for its covers. So simple, so effective and so wide open to so many neat designs. I mean, just look at the cover below, created by Lyn Yun at Space Type. Doesn’t it just say summer and poetry? *chef’s kiss*!

If you follow me over on over on BlueSky you already know I post lines I find striking every day as I slowly read through one book or issue each week. Sometimes though, life gets in the way. This is what happened yesterday. Sorry for the delay and I hope you’re doing well and doing good.

From this particular issue, I would like to draw your attention to the three poems by Ahn Joo Cheol which were translated by Jeanine Walker and Shim Jaekwan. The original Korean is published on the left with the English translation on the right. Take these opening lines from “It Faintly Lingers:”

Faintly Remains
Scarcely Remains.

I love seeing the original Korean, noting the two small, small changes to one of the characters that differentiate those first two words. Faint, scarce indeed. Poetry is so much more than just words, gestures, the smallest strokes of a pen. mmmmhh.
