I subscribe to a number of different “….of the day” emails, not all of them poetry. And being a Dad of a certain age, I am gifted each Christmas one of those page-a-day calendars. Last year it was Art History. This year its the daily cartoon from the New Yorker. The point being these things are a mixed bag. I will admit that I generally try to appreciate these daily reminders more as a mindfulness exercise than for the specific content being presented.
Today, February 6, 2024, is an exception though. Our good friends at the Academy of American Poets shared a poem from Eve L. Ewing that hit the mark. This poem goes hand in glove with the collection of minutely variable daily circumstances that have resulted in this particular morning, this vague mood.
I thought you might like to read this. Perhaps it will fit your day as well.
